Dijon, Marsannay, Beaune | France

Our second place we toured while on our honeymoon was Dijon France. We traveled via train from London to Paris and then from Paris to Dijon. The country of France, especially Burgundy is an amazingly beautiful place full of fabulous wine, food, and architecture. In Dijon their tourist office has a great pass and walking tour they provide... along with information on the surrounding cities.

When arriving in Dijon we stayed at the Hôtel le Jura, which is inside the city. While in Dijon we visited; Notre Dame, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, The Market in Dijon designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, Palais des ducs de Bourgogne, Philippe le Bon Tower, Philippe II Le Hardi's tomb, and many more architectural wonders of this medieval city. We spent one day traveling via bus to Marsannay to visit Château de Marsannay for wine tastings, a cellar tour, and to buy some wine. We also visited the town of Beaune and toured the Hospices de Beaune, and Marché aux vins where we tasted wines from several different wineries. We had food (that was amazing in most cases) and drinks at various places including; Le Grande Tavern, Café de la Concorde (where we had Escargot), and Maison Millière.

I've also been to Dijon! I loved it there. We just went for a day but had so much fun. I have the same picture (third row down, second picture in from the left).

That's great! Yes, that is where we ate dinner one night in the top of that building. It was one of the best meals I had there. And it was next to the Notre Dame so it was all lit up at night.
