Again this year I am organizing, along with my amazing friends Amy and Anna, and selling at Wintry Market; a holiday themed market featuring artists and makers who live in Idaho. Its going include 40+ vendors, workshops, a food truck, and photo booth. Last year was a huge success and this year it has grown, so I am very excited about it... and its less than two weeks away!!

Letterpress

Had a fun evening out with the girls Tuesday, as we visited Idaho Poster and Letterpress to create some coasters. It was fun learning some print-making history, and coming up with our design based on Bingo's extensive collection.

Mylar at the Modern
Local artist Adrian Krenshaw organized a group of people who crochet and knit to create panels using VHS tape. This project, Mylar Madness one part of a large art event that happens at the Modern Hotel in Boise the first Thursday in May each year. These panels were stitched together to create a large covering for a wall in the courtyard. I added my own 19x81 piece which was crocheted, you can see the finished project below. It was so great meeting other talented artists during this project.

Saturday Songs | Sister Crayon & Treefort
Sister Crayon, was one of my favorite music discoveries from Treefort, they played the Linen Building on Friday afternoon. After hearing their set on Radio Boise earlier that day, and I just had to go see them. I love the way Terra's cheerful and exotic voice combines with the band's electronic sound. The video below for I'm Still The Same Person, off the album Bellow, directed By A. P. Fischer.
Boise's inaugural Treefort Music Fest last weekend, was AMAZING! Idaho has always struggled to get musical acts to stop here, but during this festival we witnessed something that could change our community forever! A grassroots effort is what it took to get so many amazing musicians from all over the world and local favorites to play their heart out this past weekend. I had so much fun walking from venue to venue, seeing old and new friends, and feeling like I was literally in a different city. I really hope that Treefort continues growing each year, and I can't wait to be there again!
So Treefort folks, here is my wishlist for next year: Yeasayer, Dirty Projectors, Hooray for Earth, Yacht, Chairlift, Viva Voce, Battles, Geographer, Nurses, Youth Lagoon, Future Islands, Yppah, The Rapture, Cut Copy, and Local Natives.
To learn more about Treefort, follow them on facebook. Also check out these fantastic videos created by Retroscope Media.

the MODERN hotel

the MODERN hotel...has beautiful rooms and a fantastic bar. We spent our wedding night at the hotel and had great service. The hotel is a re-furbished with a retro-modern style decor. Their bar has an excellent drink list including newer versions old fashioned drinks, they also have great appetizers if you plan to stay a while. The Hotel has a fun contest currently where patrons can dress up and get their picture taken in vintage garb called the Mad Men Affair... see website for details. If you plan to visit Boise... you must visit the Modern.

Weekend Fun
We spent this last weekend at some local events and spending time with family. I wanted to share some pictures to show what a great time we had.
Basque Museum Wine Festival
This is an annual event we usually attend, in the Basque Block. Its was great to try wine from local wineries and distributors who have Basque and other wines. There is also great food, such as solomo sandwiches from Bar Gernika, Chorizos, and also food from Bardenay. We had a great time trying different wines and visiting with our friends, from Indian Creek Winery. After the festival we headed to our favorite hangout, The Front Door.

Basque Dancers, performing during the festival.

Mike from Indian Creek Winery showing off their delicious wine.

Beers from the Front Door.
Saturday with Jaiden
We picked up our Neice on Saturday and had a full day of fun. We went to the Boise Zoo where we saw many different animals. Then it was to McDonalds (of course) for lunch, Camels Back Park, and finally Goody's for some Ice Cream. We did a lot of fun activities that day, but I think she liked going down all the slides the best.

Sunday at the Winery
We attended the Indian Creek Winery, Man’s Best Friend Malbec Release Party. We brought our dog Gertie, and our family. There were several dogs at the winery and their owners, which made it a fun event. Their grounds are a perfect setting to buy some wine and have a picnic on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Delsa's in Boise
We visited the newly re-opened Delsa's Ice Cream Parlour in our neighborhood on Saturday... since it was my birthday. Delsa's has been a landmark in Boise for many years, and we are glad to have it back. My husband and I had an ice cream bar from Delsa's at our wedding, which was yummy! Check out this article in the Idaho Statesman for the history of the place.
The decor is very fun inside... along with their new and original fantastic flavors such as Huckleberry Cobbler and Black Licorice.

I noticed at Big City Coffee today there was an article posted on their doors, it was from the June issue of Sunset magazine and it was named "Boise by Bike" (click for article). I have included some pictures from the article below. It lists the great places Boise has, many of which I frequent on a regular basis.
