Weekend

Had an amazing time this past weekend; we swam, cooked outdoors, and hiked in the mountains for huckleberries.   So lucky!

Outdoors

Don't you just love the outdoors, I can't get enough of the mountains this year.  This picture was taken by me at the lake in Donnelly Idaho.  Its been hot and smoky here, but beautiful just the same.  We are heading there today for a family trip, hope to share more with you next week.

London Games

Excited for the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Olympic Games starting this weekend.  London stepped up in a big way to create some of the most fascinating, Modern, organic, and eco-friendly architecture I have ever seen for these events.

Paneling

So I have been watching Twin Peaks on Netflix, and I am drawn to this beautiful mural in what is supposed to be the Great Northern Hotel.  This space is actually the Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo, Washington built by the Suquamish descendants of Chief Sealth

What an interesting concept to paint a mural over wood paneling. Image via Flickr.

London Calling

I was in London a few years back for my honeymoon, and I absolutely fell in love! These images are of the Rough Luxe Hotel at Kings Cross, by designer Rabih Hage. I love the way the rooms combine modern and traditional styles, celebrating the city and the hotels location.

Luis Barragán House and Studio (Tacubaya, Mexico City)

One of my favorite architects throughout college until now is Luis Barragán (1902-1988), he created minimalist architecture but broke the rules by using vibrant colors to enhance the forms within space. His work is very different from the other architecture in Mexico City, as it creates a mood and statement through bold design.

Hotel Missoni

I spotted this gorgeous hotel, the Hotel Missoni (for the Italian fashion family) designed by Matteo Thun & Partners. Using color schemes and patterns to match the mood and function they have indeed created a sophisticated style and atmosphere. Makes me want to jet away to Scotland and visit.
